In Ancient Cultures all over the world, the stars were used as a compass.
Giving direction, making sure you knew where you were headed. By land or by sea.
They were also painted on the ceilings of temples and tombs in Ancient Egypt (this is a picture of ceiling in Hatshepsut’s tomb) because they were believed to descend every night to the underworld to accompany the sun. In addition, the Egyptians believed that souls returned to the stars for divine union and regeneration.
So here is my new compass. A star. Not perfect, but done in a manner more fitting to tomb paintings.
Because we should all have some form of compass. And divine union doesn’t sound so bad either, does it? 😘
